Continual Discharge Planning

Discharge planning begins in the first week of treatment. The development of this plan begins during the initial assessments made by the multi-faceted treatment team. The team of substance abuse experts constructs the treatment plan much like the continuing care plan with the goal of the individual to be able to maintain the same mental balance after discharge from treatment. To do this each member of the treatment team is responsible for the formulation of a specific segment of the plan. The Life Purpose Activity is a session with one of the Life Purpose Coaches whose goal is to reawaken or introduce passions and hobbies that will help the patient spend time and recharge the spirit during the continuing recovery process. Life Purpose Activities include physical activities such as hiking, mountain and path bike riding, swimming in the pool or the ocean, playing tennis, spending time at the golf driving range, and numerous beach activities such as walking, surfing, kayaking, bodysurfing and boogie boarding. Other activities focus on metaphysical activities such as yoga, with classes in town or down at the beach, guided meditations and trips to a metaphysical bookstore. Metaphysical activities aim to bring the physical person, spirit and nature together in order to reconnect to its beauty and healing potential.
